We Welcome You to Our Stage

The Grange Hall Coffeehouse welcomes accomplished performers as well as new voices and talents.to our stage.

We are committed to diversity. Folk, jazz, and world music, we enjoy it all, but eschewing labels, we just love good music and musicians. So does our audience!

The Grange Hall Coffeehouse offers concerts on a monthly basis, usually on the second Saturday of the month. Each concert features a main act of two 45-minute sets as well as a 20 minute opening act that complements the evening's program.

Our spring concerts are in March, April, and May, and sometimes June. In the fall, it's September, October, and November. In December we may offer a holiday treat. In the summer, we host a Friends of the Grange Hall Coffeehouse concert where we take our own turns in the spotlight!

About Our Stage, Locale & Event Marketing

You'll be performing on a 3 foot high raised stage - a solid wooden floor that's a pleasure to stand on and has just the right amount of spring for enthusiastic foot tapping - in front of about 100 people excited to see and hear you. The stage is about 25 feet wide by 15 feet deep. We have a "cozy" green room just off stage. Sorry - no mosh pit, but there is a fresh water pond across the street.

For musicians touring through New England, Sandwich is very easy to reach, and many have said it's a treat to be able to perform in the evening and then have the Cape to themselves the next day! We are far enough away from many other fine coffeehouses so that when you visit us, you'll find an eager audience. Located on the "shoulder" of Cape Cod, we bring in people not only from towns up and down the Cape but from southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well.

To paraphrase James Michael Curley, we announce our concerts early and often. We place regular postings in the arts and calendar sections of the Boston Globe, Cape Cod Times, Sandwich Enterprise, and other regional newspapers. Announcements are also posted on musical interest websites, aired on radio stations, and hung from the walls of local market, library, and gas station. We have built a strong mailing list, and we snail mail and email them frequently.

We ask that our performers also spread the good work via their own mailing lists, web-sites or blogs, word of mouth networks, friends, and family.

Finally, we encourage performers to bring CDs and Tapes for sale as well as promotional materials they would like our listeners to take with them.

Booking Process

We try to book our main acts 6-9 months in advance, with opening acts usually booked much closer to the concert dates.

All performers sign a performance contract with the Grange Hall Coffeehouse. The Grange Hall Coffeehouse always strives to meet the requests and interests our performers.

Sound & Stage Equipment

The Grange Hall Coffeehouse has a complete sound and lighting system. If you wish to use your own equipment, please make the appropriate arrangements with our engineer. We also have a slightly "antique" upright piano that is in-tune to concert pitch, and musicians are welcome to use this. All other musical instruments must be brought by the performers.

Sound Check

Stage set-up and sound checks are performed the day on the concert, typically around 5:30pm or so. Prior to this, musicians will work with our engineer to determine their requirements for sound equipment and make alternate arrangement as necessary for sound check time scheduling.

Once the sound check has been completed to everyone's satisfaction, musicians are free to leave the premises provided they return to the hall ready to perform by 7:30.

We start business when we open doors to the public at 7:30pm. We try to get our concerts underway by 8:00pm - they typically last until 10:45.

Encores, Tear Down, Payment & Au Revoirs

We love encores!

The Coffeehouse staff will be happy to help you tear down and tote everything out to your car, minivan, tour bus, or Lear Jet. Payment is also made at the end of the evening.

We ask that all performers autograph our Grange Hall Coffeehouse poster as our keepsake of the evening.
